EAST GRINSTEAD CAPRI CLUB
Proud to be sponsored by Sussex based Retroford International:

Old Fords are their business!
Website update on more pictures:
I have set up an account with flickr which will allow you all to look at more of the photos taken at shows as this site has a fairly low capacity on it. So far you can see pictures and a video taken at the Dunsfold Airshow and photos of the Ace Cafe Capri Day from last year and more pictures of club members cars. Each is in its own set. I'll put more on flickr as soon as possible and will use that site more this year.
Log onto flickr through google or whoever, once on the flickr site, in the search box type East Grinstead Capri Club. It'll come up that we couldn't find any match. Just above the message is a search bar which has Photos / Groups/ People. Click on 'People' click and there we are!!!
With around 20 or so members Capris now on the site, 2009 (despite the weather) has been a good year to get some really nice pictures; roll on 2010!

Latest show season under way, see where we've been so far: Show news
Now into the 2010 show season and a few shows under our belts already. Some of our cars are still off the road, though most are back up and running. Not too much happening with project Capris though this year, but Pete bought another 2.8i in January and Greg is building a sprint Capri. See Project Capris for more details.
The final show we attended last year was Brooklands race rack for the 40th birthday celebration of the Capri which was great. Read the report on the show news page, some photos are on there while many more will be on our page on the flickr website at www.flickr.com
We still have the branch meets on the first Monday of each month and the club christmas meal as well which was in Eastbourne this year (Tunbridge Wells in 2008). We move it around as the club members are spread out.
The website is now three years old and counting!! Since going live on the 14th September 2006 we've now exceeded the 11K milestone and have now had 11,800 genuine hits which we are really happy with! These have generated many emails, phone calls, see cars & parts bought and sold, new members joining and new friends & contacts being made. This site is updated as often as possible and anyone out there who runs website will appreciate the time involved, but I'll keep it updated.
The site has proven to be popular, with e-mail being the main way of speaking to us, though I would also recommend using the good old phone (see Contact page) as its just as good. So far i've spoken to people interested in our cars or seeking parts/ advice from Australia, America, Norway, Malta, France and Holland. People have been asking questions of us re: parts, restorations, cars and information about the shows as well as those joining the branch. It'll be really nice to have the addtional cars on the stand this year, proving the 'Legend' is still alive - and driving!!
It's good to see people are now more aware of both the site and the branch. It is updated as regularly as possible, such as future shows (when we know where we're going) & their reviews once we've attended them. Also, cars, parts & stuff both for sale and wanted (members only - sorry no outside adverts for legal reasons) when they come up or are needed and other parts of the site as and when. The members car profile is always being updated when more info is available and as more people join the branch it will only grow. Some interesting Ford related personal/ branch stats on that page! For members we havent seen for a while, we will assume you are still with us unless you contact us as we all have busy lives & for most of us the scene is a hobby.
Basically, if you've got a Ford Capri MKI, MKII, or MKIII then we're interested in both you and your motor.

It doesn't matter what the age, condition, originality or modifications, just as long as its a Capri as now people are just happy to have a Capri. Your more than welcome to join us at the pub once a month and/ or the shows we attend throughout the year around the country. However, bear in mind while we really like the cars we're not anoraks! We all have lives as well, so 'pub talk' is a pre-requisite at the branch meetings as well as at the shows! We're always happy to welcome new members, as well as those we've lost contact with.
Projects
Some projects are now finished and since the website has been up and running we've seen Petes 2ltr Sport, 1.6 Laser (both sold on) and his 2.8i Special done, Gavins 3ltr Sport resto finished and his A reg 2.8i recommisioned and back on the road as his daily runner - both now award winning cars. Waynes stunning RS3100 is back on the road finished, Stuarts MKII 2ltr Sport and the aim is to get Debbies Zakspeed restored asap.
Some members haven't sent any details of their cars being restored or worked on so no info on those.
Three cars on the Project Page, Gregs sprint car and Petes latest 2.8i. Vernon has a MKII which is undergoing a long term restoration - no really long term, its taken about 12 years so far. Also on the projects page is a brief history of the cars which have appeared on the site so far.
We are affiliated to the Capri Club International, but as with many branches of CCI, we do our own thing and would be happy for you to join in.
We don't charge any joining or admin fees, its just a group of like minded Capri (& Ford) enthusiasts who all muck in & enjoy showing off our cars at any given opportunity!
1.3 (MKI), 1.6, 2.0 & 2.1 Pintos, V6's (normally aspirated and assisted) a V8 and a 3.2 Zakspeed (genuine!!) form the club line up! Yes we wish we had more MKI's & MKII's so come on, join in with us.....

If you need parts or perhaps a whole Capri (though getting more difficult these days), then someone in the branch should be able to help. Importantly, we are sponsored by Retroford International who are based in East Sussex. Go to the Links page for their details & give them a try for both your Capri and 80's Ford needs, or if you just need someone to talk to generally, they are very accomodating, they also make a mean cuppa if you are passing. The guard dogs are kept on steel cable leads (type used on the trucks winch!) for a reason though! Most, if not all of our cars have parts fitted from them and many have had the work carried out in their workshop.
With Matt & Gemma of Retroford International able to supply parts, Stuart of Restore-A-Ford being able to sort a scratch to a full resto, we now have Olie in the process of starting his own garage workshop.
When we attend shows we generally meet up at pre-arranged points as we are spread across the South East and then drive in convoy which looks, feels and sounds great and is guarenteed to turn heads!!
While we call ourselves the East Grinstead Capri Club, members come from between Brighton and Hastings, South of the Thames & many places in between. You don't have to be from East Grinstead, its just the name.
Go to the Contact page & give us a ring or email & we will be happy to welcome you.
See ya.....
PS: If you want to join us then great, if you are staging a show, not necessarily car show & would like some Capris along, then give us a call........
Branch meeting:
Notice to both members & anyone who wants to come along:
Next branch meeting is July 5th 2010.
If you want to come along and don't know anyone in the club to speak to, PLEASE phone Davin or Jeni to let them know you would like to come to the pub to meet up with us. Alternatively just email the site as some have done already.
A flavour of the cars we can bring to a show is this picture of 12 of our cars on display.
Site launched 14th September 2006
