Projects and major work in progress on members cars
Matts 5ltr track day car, Petes 2.8 injection & 1.6 Laser recommissions, Gavins new resto for his latest 3ltr Sport and Waynes rolling restoration of his RS3100, Steve aims to reroof his MKII 3ltr cabriolet at some point & Janes MKI will be started asap.
Matts:
It started life as a straight V6 shell with all its original panels and since I had the shell for ages it was about time started a project car. The work started in mid 2005 and its now 2008 and its still not totally finished - but then, these things never are really. With a fully stripped interior, Rally Design rollcage, battery in the boot and a whole pile of genuine brand new Ford OE parts right down to many clips and screws its stunning!! Perfection (nearly). Its out of the workshop and having the fettling done to make sure it runs properly & all things work on it, before it gets some mildly reasonable abuse (£1+ a litre - worth it for the grin factor!!). Autumn 2006
November 2007 - very nearly finished .....
Petes:
2.8 injection
Bought this really honest 2.8 injection with the view to use its panels on another car, but upon closer inspection it would be criminal to pull this motor apart. Its been parked up under many covers in a garage for 14 years it only needs a small amount of bodywork sorting out and sort some micro blistering in the paint. As this one is mostly mechanical it just needs everything cleaning and checking and some parts will need replacing which is why over the past few months a small stockpile has been collected. Just need some time to spend sorting it now! So ten months in its 'new' garage home under cover means it'll have been parked up for more years than it was on the road!
Progress so far (April 08):
As this car hasn't been the priority (my Paris Blue 2.8i has), things haven't happened quickly to say least. Bought the car last June and sorted the rear brakes, replaced all the tyres and checked all the electrics (nearly everything works, including the blowers) last October!
At last, its now in its new home, a place with decent lighting and warmer to get on with the work. I've removed the corroded petrol tank to expose the only area which needs surgery, the rear chasis rails have rusted in the arched bit above the axle. These need to be welded before the replacement tank is fitted, but apart from that, its survived really well condsidering it didn't turn a wheel while living in a garage block for 14 years.
As the engine has seized and the gearbox will need some tlc, I've got a known working engine and C3 auto box and prop to go in. Two days in the right hands with the right equipment and pot of tea and sorted - ha we'll see!
MKIII 1.6 Laser
Bought this one with the view to keep for spares as with the 2.8injection. However, this is a very straight car though needs the engine and clutch sorting. This will be done in the next few months I suppose, no rush....
As far as we can tell the body is fairly straight, only the aftermarket n/s/f wing is rusty and a part of the front panel. Apart from that not much to do really ..... said that before...!
(Looks a bit sad here, but hay, thats life!)
Gavins Capri:
MKIII 3ltr Sport
This motor has had many parts removed and the bodywork prepped and painted, but must admit bodywork is not my bag so I'll finish off taking the bits off and then its off to a proper bodyshop for them to prep & paint it professionally. Many new parts are going back on and it will be a standard car. I'm rebuilding a 3ltr lump with loads of uprated bits going into it. this will find its way into either this or my Grey Sport, ahhhh what a choice!
(Old photo, but the only one available at the mo)
Waynes:
RS 3100
Updated Jan 08:
As winter is here I have how started to strip the car down. I have removed all of the rear suspension and running gear and spent 50+ hours removing 30 years of underseal its got to be the worst job I've done and I have only done half of the car. But, on the up side I have found no rot on the chassis legs, which has got to be a result. I will need to replace the spare wheel well and do a repair to the floor. Once the floor is done the car will off to get resprayed.

Steves:
MKII 3ltr Cabriolet
Update:
Work still hasn't started on his MKII 3ltr cabriolet yet, but the view is to do some major surgery on it for this years show curcuit - or maybe next year as Janes MKI has now replaced the MKIII 1.6GL?

Jane
MKI 1600 GXL
bought this one as a project and as I've always liked MKI's thought it would be good to get one. Its a long term project thing, so don't expect many updates often. But its good to get one while they are still 'cheap'.
