The car was purchased in 2003 for £100 and was used as a daily runner until December 2004 when the funds for the restoration became available. The car was stripped down to the bare shell with all rust being removed and new wings, drip rails, arches, top plates, lower rear quarter panels and lots of rust holes filled.
Then the rolling shell was taken to C.G Coachworks of Horam where they fitted the new wings and arches they resprayed the whole car. At the end of April 2005 the car came back to the work shop where the rebuild started. The car was booked in for the first show of the season only four weeks away and with only two days off a week for those four weeks I had to enlist some help from some good friends Dave Jackson, Wayne Jeffs and Matt Skerritt (Retro Ford Int.) The car was booked in for its MOT at 10:30 on the Sat morning of the show. As Dave and I collected the car on the Friday we thought we only had a couple of things to do on it. Ha, wrong! didnt get home till 3am and even then the rear seats and back bumper were missing - but she still passed. A quick trip to the Post Office for some tax and I attended the Crockstead Spring Show with her that day. Sunday was spent putting the rest of the car back together despite the 'finished look' for the show.
So there is the story of A80 FHN.
This restoration included the following modifications :
- Big discs and granny brakes with Land Rover mater cylinder, 2.0ltr servo and braided hoses.
- Strut brace on the front and axle relocation on the back.
- Stainless steel magnex exhaust and K&N filter.
- Moulding strips taken off and no pin stripes.
- Chrome door handles and window frames.
- Revolution five spoke alloys.
- One off reccaro interior.

My first Capri was a V reg 1.6L Capri with many faults including an inbuilt swimming pool and sheet bodyfiller in the drivers door. Having given up on this motor I later saw this 2.8i advertised in Autotrader back in March 1991. It lived at a chippie in Astwood Bank near Worcester, but one test drive later it was mine! With my modestly customized Sierra sold I was able to haggle the chap down to the amount I had. Good old Dad put it in his name for insurance purposes and I officially had a base model Allegro to smoke round in! – They were the days! However, living in Birmingham, a four year old 2.8i attracted the wrong attention and five attempted thefts later I got fed up with it and reluctantly sold it. Many cars and years later I decided to look round for another and despite having a couple of grand cash on me nothing was available at the Capri Club International Summer Camp show in 2005. I decided if I saw ‘my old 2.8’ again, I’d buy it. Fate struck one lunchtime in early October 2005 when I was looking on the internet and guess what?! Yep, there she was, sitting in Crawley waiting for me! One phone call and two days later, a nice man with a recovery lorry came to deliver it to my house. The missus was really not best pleased, as is often the case, but too late now! After 14 years I’d got my 2.8 back!!!!! It needed the rear brakes re-building, duff electrics sorting and a new stereo and we’re in business. Over the years its had some subtle modifications by the owners which I have retained as these are the sort of things I’d do to make the difference. However, its never lost the roof mounted carphone aerial fitted when it was new in August 1986. The mods are:
- 15” RS seven spoke alloys
- Stainless steel door treads
- CD player
- Sonic shelf with 9" by 6" speakers - enough
- Veneer fascia and trim
- Powerflow stainless steel exhausts
- K&N filter
- High lift cam and unleaded heads
- Mondeo front brake conversion
- Axle location kit
- Rear disc conversion
- A/R bar & TCA’s polybushed
- Braided hoses
- Upgraded servo and master cylinder

Its a credit to the previous owners. It had been parked up in a dry ventilated garage for about 15 years before coming to the attention of the club. It was covered in thin plastic sheeting and decorators cloths, so hasn't sufferred from the old metal worm. However, it needed to be mechanically recommissioned and did take time as it needed most things oily. Totally stock and with history, I'm rather happy with this find. Apart from being transported to the workshop where the recomissioning work was undertaken, this photo was the first time it been out of the garage since 1992! Used everday and runs sweet as a nut.

Been after 'the right' Capri for some time now and found this one which has been stored for twenty years. I've recommissioned it and its first outing was the Eastbourne car show 2008. This car is simply mint, just look at the headlamps which haven't gone a milky colour. Its now on 1" lowered suspension and has 15" Minilights.

Its an RS3100 - need I say anymore eh???! Bought this standard car in 2007 and was fairly original. Having finished a complete restoration by Stuart at Restore-A-Ford & myself its first trip out was to the Eastbourne Classic car show. It was also one of the display cars on the Classic Ford Magazine stand at Santa Pod on 31st May 2009!

She is my second Capri. Previously owned a Paris blue 2.0 Laser. Bought this one back in 2002 with 47k on the clock (genuine) about five years ago and now has well over 100k. She's standard apart from the Weber carb and the Brookie alloys. Had new wings in 2007, 12 days later someone thumped my rear quarter so I got that sorted plus both arches repaired so she looked as good as new. And I can get a five-piece drum kit in her with a full rack system! Unfortunatley I had a small bump in it but the insurance has covered it and its now back on the road fully repaired with a shiny new coat of paint & has been seen at a few shows already!

Replaced my 2.8i with this one which is my everyday driver. Totally stock now as the correct wheels have now been put back on. I'm not into the Punto/ Saxo school of thought and wanted a car with grunt and enough room to customise or tweek as and when. I just really like the old school looks of the Capri which is why my first car was a Capri. Always wanted an Essex V6 Capri and a Stratos Silver 2.8i which is my other Capri. This has now been fully resprayed and the only modification is the clear front indicator lenses I've had off Matt at Retroford International. Now done a couple of shows and won the Best MKIII Capri (voted by visitors) at the summer Capri Club show in Evesham in July 2008. Well happy with that!!!!! Totally brill car, but unfortunatley some idiot has hit the passenger door and put a great dent in it. I'm sure it was done on purpose as its not your average car park kiss. So back to the bodyshop for it.

Decided to buy a Capri after several years of being Capriless after attending the Eastbourne Car show in 2007 & seeing the line of Capris on the stand there. Bit of a hunt around turned up this cabriolet which is definately different, as I didn't want a standard Capri. While not to everyones taste, I'm happy with it & its a 3ltr so I can keep up with the traffic nicely. Good solid car, though just in case I fancy putting a lid on it, I've got a spare roof panel at home (& a welder).

Bought this car as a project, but didn't want one with too much work required as I'm always short of time. This one had been stroked to 3ltr with stage 2 heads, cam and a Janspeed exhaust. Interior has been retrimmed in black leather and an axle location kit fitted and it has a Kenlowe fan. I've fitted the BMW headlights (hidden bulbs), strut brace, red led dash lights & a set of 15" rims. However, a good turbo engine has now found its way under the bonnet and with other mods is pushing over 200bhp at the wheels which I'm happy with. May lower it and fit uprated front springs at some point.

When I purchased the car it was in a rather sorry state and was actually on its way to the scrap yard! I bought it and have spent the last six years restoring it as time and finances allowed. I've changed the old 4 speed to a 5 speed box, polybushed it throughout, replaced the bonnet, doors, tailgate, outer sills and front panel. Its also had a genuine RS Turbotail boot spoiler and a Capri Club RS front spoiler. Not to mention the Magnex exhaust systems (yes its got the tags), K&N filter, uprated front springs axle location kit, Goodrich brake hoses, Willwood 4 pots with grooved discs. Finally I've got it running on 15" Supalites on Khomo tyres. As we all know, it won't stop there as there's always plenty to do such as the LSD thats now pushing it along.....

After I sold my last 2.8i I bought this to replace it as my daily runner. Though its got a solid shell, the engine was tired and finally let go. The next engine broke and now the latest one has also stopped working! The engine was stripped down ages ago and the car is still in bits at the back of the workshop due to lack of time. Some more improvements are on the cards and if I ever get the chance to work on it I'll try and get it back on the road this year. Like Matts, I've got plans for it which will see it rebuilt but not exactly original. I know this will upset the purists, but nevermind, everyone to their own eh?

Though 20 years old, this 2.8i is a very straight and solid car with loads of history. Thats it really, nothing much else to say, came along at the right price and I had it, job done. Now got another car to take to the shows! Had a bloke hit the back of it recently and luckily only caused slight damage to the N/S/R 1/4 panel, squashed the bumper and cap. Know any good bodyshops ?.........

This has been off the road for a year or sao awaiting a short resto. Languishing at the back of my workshop under dust covers, this near mint Capri only needed small touch ups on the paint and the rear sections of the rear seats sorted and its now concours. Its a very late MKII S reg, Nuff said really, the car speaks for itself! Its now out in the open in its full glory and been seen at a few shows already.

I've always loved Capris and as my other half is a long-term member of the club I thought if you can't beat them, join them. Becasue shes painted in distinct Kawasaki green, she's affectionately named 'Kermit'. We purchased 'Kermit' in April 2005 and owning this car has been interesting to put it mildly! On her first trip out she over heated in the biggest way possible, the culprit turned out to be a wrong size fan being fitted which was too small. On another occasion we were on a long distance run when a back wheel made a break for freedom, luckily we weren't going too fast that time. When I purchsed her she was about 90% restored, but the interior was only fit for the bin and were lucky to find a mint interior on good old ebay. There are still lots of small jobs yet to be done, like replacing some chrome trim parts to help Kermit look mint again (in a 70's retro way). Kermit sounds as loud as she looks and I love watching people taking a double look as we drive past. Give us a wave if you see her out and about.

I purchsed the car from Retroford Matt after seeing it advertised in Classic Ford. Matt agreed to replace the N/S/F wing and repair a rear wheel arch before I collected it.
When I collected it I took it straight to my place fo work and stripped the car down removing all the interior and external trim. Then the car was bare metalled. I replaced the O/S/F wing, repaired the front and rear valances, inner wings, strut tops and areas on the floor and replaced the N/S door with a good second hand one.
Primed and painted the car and fitted a st of refurbnished 13" seven spokes and five new tyres. Then I renewed the brakes and fitted braided hoses, poybushes up front and gave it a full service. A Magnex exhaust found its way onto the car along with a K&N.
Thats the storey so far..... best do some shows then .....

My love affair with the Capri started at 17 when I learned to drive, I soon got bored of driving a 206 and a Capri just seemed like the right car. I picked up my first Capri in the middle of 2007, a 1.6 GL in meadow green for £600.00 with a seized caliper and a tailgate that wouldn't shut. I drove that car around everywhere until it was time for its MOT and it failed sadly. Might have something to do with when the MOT tester tapped it with a screwdriver and a lump of filler the size of my hand fell out from the spring hanger. Anyway, I sold that car for £500 to a lad in Brighton. I was Capriless until just after my 18th birthday when I found a 1986 Laser pop up for sale in Lavent near Chichester. It had just undergone a full restoration including a re-spray, second hand low millage Sierra engine, Recaro interior and some other bits. So I bought that for just under £2000 & fitted a full Janspeed stainless exhaust system, front Bilsteins, single leafs on the rear & K&N filter. Just sold that car now to help fund the Ford stable I'm developing. Then in June 2009 I was randomly ebaying and an early MK3 2.8i came up for sale. The colour scheme is the rare two tone green which jumped out at me. The car itself had been sitting under a cover in a barn for 12 years and fired up straight away after some fresh petrol. I bought the car the next day for £1800 full mot and full tax and drove that home. A week later while giving it a bootfull on the M23, the diff locked up in the fast lane. Luckily the car was OK though and I fitted a new axle. I was originally going to have the car sprayed in Kawasaki green but after various chats with friends we came to the decision that the colour was too rare to mess with, so I’m trying to take it back to semi standard. I’ve just bought a Janspeed system for it and with the help of Pete (runs this website) am trying to source an original check interior for it. So thats me and my Capris!

Bought this a few months ago as I wanted a Capri again and the wife wanted a cabriolet. As I wasn't prepared to pay the going price for a Crayford (which I use dto own), this popped up on the evilbay & deal done! Its a CCI kit which was done in 2000. It was a 2ltr Laser, still has its 2ltr engine but has S seats in it. I'm looking to work on the car, but not sure which way to go first, though it will be having attention paid to all three areas, body, interior and mechanics.

I've had this 3ltr MKII for 19 years. I did most of the restoration in a single lock up garage. As you can see from the pictures, I replaced most of the external panels, the exceptions being the roof, scuttle and sills, although numerous repairs were required in many others places, the main structure of the car was remarkably sound due to being Ziebarted from new.
I originally tuned the V6 to a high specification, but it still wasn't really what I wanted and when I moved, I had the opportunity to bring my dream of a V8 Capri to life. I had a long block Ford V8 built in America and shipped over from Coast High Performance. This is one of their 347ci stroker kits, so this engine displaces around 5.5 litres. It has a fast road cam, AFR 185 heads (CNC ported alluminium), quad IDF throttle body fuel injection and is running distributorless ignition. The exhaust headers are custom made in stainless steel, as is the 2.5 inch exhaust system. Transmission wise, it's running a Mustang spec Tremec T5 and while the rear axle is standard, this will be upgraded to an 8.8inch mustang version at some point. This is still very much work in progress, but I'm getting there!

After writing off my Paris Blue 2.8i (it will be rebuilt eventually), I wanted to get another classic Ford to attend the shows. Had a look at a few motors such as RS turbos, a Sapphire Cossie and a Cortina. This only confirmed it had to be a Capri! Spoke at Kevin at Surrey Capri Club and he directed me to Nic, a Surrey Capri Club member selling his car. Emails exchanged and then went to look at it. Its in remarkable condition considering it had sat outside for 18mths and has been off the road for a couple of years. Got it going and took it for a short spin, the price was agreed and thats my 19th Capri bought (all MKIII's). The really car is a credit to the previous owners as its got all original panels and apart from a couple of scabs on the O/S/R arch, one on the tailgate and a small one on the N/S wing which need catching, its fine. Needs an MOT, but no rush as it looks like its just one back box which needs changing and the show season doesn't start for another couple of months anyway. See you at the shows with this one.
Not sure which way to go on this straight original solid 2.8i - either: cossie whale tail, 18" chromes, slammed, neons and stripped interior, roof spoiler, straight through exhausts, side window louvres, de-bumper - sorted :-) - or should I strip it and go for the rat look??? Hmmmmm.... Thats got you all worried .........
