Comments:
The car was purchased in 2003 for £100 and was used as a daily runner until December 2004 when the funds for the restoration became available. The car was stripped down to the bare shell with all rust being removed and new wings, drip rails, arches, top plates, lower rear quarter panels and lots of rust holes filled.
Then the rolling shell was taken to C.G Coachworks of Horam where they fitted the new wings and arches they resprayed the whole car. At the end of April 2005 the car came back to the work shop where the rebuild started. The car was booked in for the first show of the season only four weeks away and with only two days off a week for those four weeks I had to enlist some help from some good friends Dave Jackson, Wayne Jeffs and Matt Skerritt (Retro Ford Int.) The car was booked in for its MOT at 10:30 on the Sat morning of the show. As Dave and I collected the car on the Friday we thought we only had a couple of things to do on it. Ha, wrong! didnt get home till 3am and even then the rear seats and back bumper were missing - but she still passed. A quick trip to the Post Office for some tax and I attended the Crockstead Spring Show with her that day. Sunday was spent putting the rest of the car back together despite the 'finished look' for the show.
So there is the story of A80 FHN.
This restoration included the following modifications :
- Big discs and granny brakes with Land Rover mater cylinder, 2.0ltr servo and braided hoses.
- Strut brace on the front and axle relocation on the back.
- Stainless steel magnex exhaust and K&N filter.
- Moulding strips taken off and no pin strips.
- Chrome door handles and window frames.
- Revolution five spoke alloys.
- One off reccaro interior.

Purchased in March 2006 for £600 as not quite a whole shell. My husband Davin, me and our mate Dave (yes I got my hands dirty too!) stripped it completely and at the beginning of June it went to the bodyshop (C G Coachworks of Horam) to have a new driverside rear quarter, passenger door, tailgate and sunroof fitted. A spot or two of metal moth was also sorted and a full respray to take it from rusty black to my chosen colour - a nice 1977 Ford Venetian Red.
We collected my shiny new shell on 1st July (courtesy of Matt and his lorry) and started the rebuild. This was a bit scary as the car had been off the road for 15 years so we had no idea if the engine and auto box were any good, not to mention sourcing the missing bits and lots of shiny new chrome parts (thanks Retro Ford International). Posh leather reccaro seats, arm rests and a brand new grill all from E bay, door cards and sundries from Wayne and all finished off with a nice set of refubished compomotive alloys - real retro touch!
The first 2 weeks of August were a mad rush, with Davin, me, Dave, Wayne and even Matt trying to throw it back together in time for its MOT on Thurs 10th, which it passed! A quick trip to the DVLA office in Brighton to re-register it and get the road tax and I drove it home. Fri 11th after a quick wash and polish we set off to Evesham for its first show and despite 4 hours on the motorway we made it hassle free!
And here is XGP 286 S in all her glory!!

My first Capri was a V reg 1.6L Capri with many faults including an inbult swimming pool & sheet bodyfiller. Having given up on this motor I later saw this 2.8i advertised in Autotrader back in March 1991. It lived at a chippie in Astwood Bank near Worcester, but one test drive later it was mine! With my modestly customized Sierra sold I was able to haggle the chap down to the amount I had. Good old Dad put it in his name for insurance purposes and I officially had a base model Allegro to smoke round in! – They were the days! However, living in Birmingham, a four year old 2.8i attracted the wrong attention and five attempted thefts later I got fed up with it and reluctantly sold it. Many cars and years later I decided to look round for another and despite having a couple of grand cash on me nothing was available at the Capri Club International Summer Camp show in 2005. I decided if I saw ‘my old 2.8’ again, I’d buy it. Fate!! One lunchtime in early October 2005, I was looking on the internet and guess what?! Yep, there she was, sitting in Crawley waiting for me! One phone call and two days later, a nice man with a recovery lorry came to deliver it to my house. The missus was really not best pleased, as is often the case, but too late now! After 14 years I’d got my 2.8 back!!!!! It needed the rear brakes re-building, duff electrics sorting and a new stereo and we’re in business. Over the years its had some subtle modifications by the owners which I have retained as these are the sort of things I’d do to make the difference. However, its never lost the roof mounted carphone aerial fitted when it was new in August 1986. The mods are:
- 15” RS seven spoke alloys
- Stainless steel door treads
- CD player
- Sonic shelf with 9" by 6" speakers - enough
- Veneer fascia and trim
- Stainless steel exhausts
- K&N filter
- High lift cam and unleaded heads
- Mondeo front brake conversion
- Axle location kit
- Rear disc conversion
- A/R bar & TCA’s polybushed
- Braided hoses
- Upgraded servo and master cylinder

Just bought this one which is a credit to the previous owner really. Parked up in a garage for about 15 years, it was covered in plastic sheeting and decorators cloths, so hasn't sufferred from the old metal worm. However, it needs to be mechanically recommissioned and will take time as it needs most things oily, so won't be on the show scene for a while yet! Totally stock and with history, I'm rather happy with this find. The photo was taken when we had changed the wheels as the tyres were totally flat & we had to drag/ push and eventually roll it out. Despite the drums and calipers being seriously seized, we did it with no damage thankfully. This photo is the first time it been out of the garage since 1992! - Now its sitting in another one for the next couple of years at least....... but will be getting recommissioned slowly. Managed to collect most, if not all of the mechanical bits needed to recommision it - just need the time now! Have a look at the Project Capris page to see its progress.

My first Capri this is and have just bought this fine motor off Pete, if you recognise it. I've joined the branch as well! Nice to buy a car after the hard work has been done to it. This car is to be used as a daily driver instead of my MKIII Cortina and though totally stock at the moment, apart from a 2.8i anti-roll bar I'll be carrying out the sensible mods over time like unleaded heads, electronic ignition etc... A 5 speed has found its way in as the old 4 speed gave out unfortunatley. It'll still be used as a show car as well so hopefully see you at some of them.

This motor was due to go to the Capri grave due to it being worn out, but since it had a generally solid & straight shell & panels it was worth saving and messing with. It had to be Orange and had to have a 3ltr minimum lump in it. Like Johns MKI at the bottom of this page, some say it should be rebuilt as original, but naaahh, forget even 3ltr, now 5ltrs of Mustang lump is sitting nice and low in the bay. Some clever knuckle shredding work, many frustrating delays and around two years of collecting mostly new unused Ford parts to go onto it have meant the car is very nearly finished. I wanted to get it on the road for the Dunsfold airshow display, but that target came and went, much like the show season really! Well, now its done, some minor tuning and fettling to go, but its here; cop an eyeful of that motor!!!!
You are more likely to see the image below though! -------I'm of............ see ya!

Just bought this car as the 5ltr is a killer on petrol & we needed a Capri to do the shows in when we're not trading. Never been welded and only 80K on the clock. Looking for a set of mint pepperpots as the RS seven spokes are the only none original part of the car; except the paint. It has been fully resprayed, but its in good nick though.

When I purchased the car it was in a rather sorry state and was actually on its way to the scrap yard! I bought it and have spent the last six years restoring it as time and finances allowed. I've changed the old 4 speed to a 5 speed box, polybushed it throughout, replaced the bonnet, doors, tailgate, outer sills and front panel. Its also had a genuine RS Turbotail boot spoiler and a Capri Club RS front spoiler. Not to mention the Magnex exhaust systems (yes its got the tags), K&N filter, uprated front springs axle location kit, Goodrich brake hoses, Willwood 4 pots with grooved discs. Finally I've got it running on 15" Supalites on Khomo tyres. As we all know, it won't stop there as there's always plenty to do such as the LSD thats now pushing it along.....

Did the cardinal sin of bidding on ebay based on the description and photos. Then again it looked ok for my max bid. Amazed I won it and well happy to see the condition it was in when I collected it. Needs the clutch and the engine sorted, the n/s/f wing tidying up and badged & a rear bumper.

After I sold my last 2.8i I bought this to replace it as my daily runner. Its got a solid shell, though had a tried engine which finally let go. Two engines later and I've managed to break this one! The engines been stripped down and heads have gone away to be sorted. Some more improvements are on the cards when its back on the road next year including a 1/2 leather trim, new paint, etc... I know this will upset the purists, but nevermind, everyone to their own eh?!

This has been off the road for a year or sao awaiting a short resto. Languishing at the back of my workshop under dust covers, this near mint Capri only needed small touch ups on the paint and the rear sections of the rear seats sorted and its now concours. Its a very late MKII S reg, Nuff said really, the car speaks for itself! Its now out in the open in its full glory!

I've always loved Capris and as my other half is a long-term member of the club I thought if you can't beat them, join them. Becasue Shes panted in distinct Kawasaki green, she's affectionately named 'Kermit'. We purchased 'Kermit' in April 2005 and owning this car has been interesting to put it mildly! On her first trip out she over heated in the biggesbt way possible, the culprit turned out to be a wrong size fan being fitted which was too small. On another occasion we were on a long distance run when a back wheel made a break for freedom, luckily we weren't going too fast that time. When I purchsed her she was about 90% restored, but the interior was only fit for the bin and were lucky to find a mint interior on good old ebay. There are still lots of small jobs yet to be done, like replacing some chrome trim parts to help Kermit look mint again (in a 70's retro way). Kermit sounds as loud as she looks and I love watching people taking a double look as we drive past. Give us a wave if you see her out and about.

The car was bought back in 1996 as a bare shell as there was no way I could afford a decent 280 then. I spent the next six years restoring the car with new or reconditioned parts. The car has been on the road for about four years now and as all classic car owners know, a restoration project is never finished. Modifications include: Caprisport 280 brake set up and a rear disc conversion kit.

She is my second Capri. Previously owned a Paris blue 2.0 Laser. Bought this one with 47k on the clock (genuine) about five years ago and now has 106k. She's standard apart from the Weber carb and the Brookie alloys. Had new wings on last year, 12 days later someone thumped my rear quarter so I got that sorted plus both arches repaired so she looks good as new. And I can get a five-piece drum kit in her with a full rack system!

Now sold the A reg 2.8 and bought this black 2.8i Special. Previous owner bought it in 1991 and drove it for years. Parked up in a garage several years ago it was recently put back on the road withthe only upgrade being a a set of Brooky wheels. Standard looking motor with an interesting history and black being my favourite colour, this is the car I've been after for years. Its an everyday motor so has to be kept in good order as well as putting it on the club stand at shows.

Bought a few years back now and used as one of the daily drivers as I've only got Capris. Standard 2.8 apart form the optional extra driving lamps. Well behaved unmessed car which has served me well over the years and still good enought to take to the shows. since this photo was taken, its bodywork is suffering and is certainly not in show condition, well, that is if its an example of one ready for restoration. My black 2.8i Special is almost ready for the show circuit, but still needs a bit of work for the dreaded MOT & then it can take the place of the one shown here.

Bought a couple of years ago and used as my daily transport, I've had to do some minor work on it to keep its looks and performance upto spec, but it doesn't look out of place on the club stand at the meets we go to. A standard motor which does what it was meant to do, live on the road. Been off the road this year as some nice motorist took out the one side, so its been laid up awaiting the refit, but thats now in hand which is why its not been out to play this year - it'll be back though.

Replaced my 2.8i with this one which is my everyday driver. Totally stock now as the correct wheels have now been put on since the picture was taken. I'm not into the Punto/ Saxo school of thought and wanted a car with grunt and enough room to customise or tweek as and when. I just really like the old school looks of the Capri which is why I've got another Capri & my first car was a Capri, so the bugs got me. This has now been fully resprayed and the only modification is the clear front indicator lenses I've had off Matt at Retroford International. So now this is finished, off to find another project Capri!

I bought this car a few years back and after driving the shiny example for a time, tin work got the better of it. Deciding to stick with it, this became a long term project car and so saved it from the scrapper. It has had bodywork done as and when over the past couple of years. As time & funds now permit more work to be carried out, its had wide arches fitted and many unseen parts fabricated, its got 2.8i running gear, is lowered, has a subtle custom interior & trim and is running on a set of 7" Superlites. The engine is a tuned Essex lump with NOS. Its stayed Modena green, but I've added some matt black decals which look spot on. While some may not like this being done to a MKI, this car by rights should have been cubed - so bonus! Bodywork has being done by Restore-A-Ford & I'm seriously impressed. The car has come on a treat since this photo and the bodywork is now finished - always fetling to do and the next tweek. Should be a feature car soon as its had the photoshoot done - keep an eyeout for Classic Ford.
From this last October...
To this stunner!!
