With around 30 or so members Capris now on the site, 2007 (despite the weather) has been a good year and does make the site a more interesting place to visit!

HALL OF FAME!!

and can be seen at the shows we attend.
Appearances include:

April 2006 edition of Retroford mag has various shots of Daves mint MKIII 2.8 injection & Karens MKI 3.0GT - pages 33 - 37.
October 2006 edition of Retroford magazine saw a few poses and cars.

February 2007 edition of Retroford magazine has Petes Paris Blue 2.8i Special and Gemmas modified Pearl White 2.8 injection with the Kent Capri and Ford crew - nice motors you lot!

February 2007 edition of Retroford magazine again has Daves mint X reg 2.8 injection at Boxhill.

April 2007 Edition - Go buy it - back copies available!!!!!!!!

The  really  nice  people  at  Retroford  Mag,  namely  Tricky, Ben and his missus,  came  to  visit  us  in  February - on  a  cold, damp,  misty  evening  which  explained  the  lower  turnout  than  in  the  summer - wonder  why?  They've done  us  proud  in  a  three  page  report  on  our  club. Depsite  the temperature,  the  mist  and  street lights  gave  a  great light  across  the  car  park.

Pages 116 - 118 have a really well written assessment of the club which is of course a few members bigger now.

Also in the same edition on page 33 there we are again inlcuded in the write up advertising The National Day at Capri Club HQ on a farm in Evesham - well worth a visit to take your minter or to look at what can be acheived!
BIG CHEERS TO BEN AND THE CREW FROM EGCC
August 2007 edition: Pages 118 - 120 as a good write up on the South East Ford Owners Club .... link with us? Our Wayne with his RS3100 - he really is a Capri/ Ford tart! Hes in so many Ford clubs now hes got letters after his name! We now need to address him correctly as: Mr. Wayne RS3100 EGCC SEFOC OSF.Looks quite good we think!
As long as it gets the Capris out there on those roads, in the pub car parks and on the pages of specialist mags then who cares eh?! Nice one Wayne......... although, wonder if hes been in any other specialist mags????      Wayne.............
October 2007 edition: Only just saying how much of a camra junky Wayne is and guess what - here he is again on Page 117 - well his car is along with Daves 2.8i when they attended the show at the Wingspan Club at Gatwick Airport. His RS did get a mention, but hay, thats good enough for Wayne!!
Classic Ford magazine
October 2006 edition of  Classic Ford magazine again saw Karens Green MkI & branch members between pages 37 and 41.
Autumn edition:Johns MKI 3.1 has a 6 page spread in this edition. Really good write up on a totally cracking car, cheers for the mention John and hope you, Stuart (body work - Restore-a-Ford) Matt (parts - Retroford International) and all the others can put another Capri project together just as well specked as this one!
February 2008 edition: Wayne and Dave went up to the Ace Cafe meet with about 60+ other Capris for the meet last September. Kev from the Surrey Capri Club organised it and is on again this year!
Capri Club magazine
August 2006 edition of Capri Club Internation saw Davins 2.8i being the cover shot.
November 2006 edition of the Capri Club International magazine has a full page inside cover spread on Petes' 2.8i Special. Really good write up on it - ? unique storey, but then its a really honest car!

August 2007 edition: Davin got a mention for his mechanical exploits during the Capri National meet earlier in the year when he stripped and repaired one sick carb and then sorted a broken ignition key in its barrel.
February 2008 edition of the Capri Club saw Waynes ownership profile on the inside back cover under 'Meet the Members' section. Well worh a quick read.
May 2008 edition saw Paul and his 2.8i Specal ex- museum car stretching its legs, obviously one for blue Capris as hes had a 1.6 Paris Blue Laser, a 2.0 Crystal Blue Laser and now a Blue over Silver 2.8i Special. As with Waynes article, well worth a read (inside front cover).
Not only that, but its also made an appearance in the latest CCi catalogue in the body kit section.

Important Note:
Dave 'October' Jackson - a respected member of the club and now the second qualified Ford tart and camera junkie just like our Wayne. Magazines were just the start, hes now got his wheels spread across the Old Skool Ford calander for this year. You can see his X reg 2.8i in various places; well actually everywhere to be honest. Its good to know just what he thinks of the Ford scene and excellent to see he is so dedicated to keeping Capris on Britains roads!
Oh yes, we're still get around!

JOIN US THIS YEAR AND LETS GET SOME MORE CAPRIS INTO THOSE CLASSIC CAR SHOWS

SHOW IS HERE AGAIN SO GO AND SEE WHERE WE'LL BE THIS YEAR AT Show news

2008

WELL, SOME WINTER PROJECTS GOT FINISHED, OTHERS ARE STILL ONGOING BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT THE AUTOJUMBLES AND THE MIGHTY BAY WILL BRING US THIS YEAR. HOPEFULLY SOME MOVEMENT SHOULD BE SEEN ON THE PROJECT FRONT AT ..... Project Capris

Well, now almost into July and a few of this years shows  attended. We've had over 5800 genuine hits on the site! These have generating many emails, phone calls, bought and sold motors and parts, new members joining and new friends being made.

The site has proven to be popular, with e-mail being the main way of speaking to us, though I would also recommend using the old phone (see Contact page) as its just as good. People have been asking questions of us re: parts, restorations, cars and information about the shows as well as those joining the branch. It'll be really nice to have the addtional cars on the stand this year, proving the 'Legend' is still alive - and driving!!

It's good to see people are now more aware of both the site and the branch. It is updated as regularly as possible such future shows (when we know where we're going) & their reviews once we've attended them. Also, cars, parts & stuff both for sale and wanted (members only - sorry no outside adverts for legal reasons) when they come up or are needed and other parts of the site as and when. The members car profile is always being updated when more info is available and as more people join the branch it will only grow. Some interesting Ford related personal/ branch stats on that page! For members we havent seen for a while, we will assume you are still with us unless you contact us.

Basically, if you've got a Ford Capri MKI, MKII, &/ or MKIII then we're interested in both you and your motor.

It doesn't matter what the age, condition, originality or modifications, just as long as its a Capri as now people are just happy to have a Capri. Your more than welcome to join us at the pub once a month as well as the shows we attend throughout the year around the country. However, bear in mind while we really like the cars we're not anoraks! We all have lives as well so 'pub talk' is a pre-requisite at the branch meetings as well as at the shows! We're always happy to welcome new members as well as those we've lost contact with.

Matts MKIII is now on the road, but will always have a few minor tweeks and bits added and polished. Petes still got his clean 2.8i which still only needs mechanically sorting as summer project (hopefully) and his Laser which needs some mechanics and some body, but we'll see. Gavins got another 3ltr Sport to play with, Steves Cabriolet is due some surgery and Janes MKI is to get restored. (more pics to follow asap)

The advantage of getting involved is the chance to network and meet really useful & helpful people, our members come from a wide background across many trades and professions and if one can't help with a question, then someone else probably can! From carpentry, electrics, business, professional constuction to health care and more... we're a real mixed bunch which adds to the vitality of the branch and new friendships! But whats also important is that we help where we can with each others cars, which can be seen in the write-ups in the 'Members car profile' page of this site.

We are affiliated to the Capri Club International, but as with many branches of CCI, we do our own thing and would be happy for you to join in.

We don't charge any joining or admin fees, its just a group of like minded Capri (& Ford) enthusiasts who all muck in & enjoy showing off our cars at any given opportunity!

Its not just V6's but Lasers, Sports and LS's all form part of the club line up! Yes we wish we had more MKI's & MKII's so come on, join in with us.....

If you need technical advice, cars or parts, then someone in the branch should be able to help. Most importantly though, we are sponsored by Retroford International who are based in East Sussex. Go to the Links page for their details & give them a try for both your Capri and 80's Ford needs, or if you just need someone to talk to generally, they are very accomodating, they also make a mean cuppa if you are passing. The guard dogs are kept on steel cable leads (type used on the trucks winch!) for a reason though! Most, if not all of our cars have parts fitted from them and many have had the work carried out in their workshop.

When we attend shows we generally meet up at pre-arranged points as we are spread across the South East and then drive in convoy which looks, feels and sounds great and is guarenteed to turn heads!!

While we call ourselves the East Grinstead Capri Club, Members come from between Brighton and Hastings, South of the Thames & many places in between. You don't have to be from East Grinstead, its just the name.

Go to the Contact page & give us a ring or email & we will be happy to welcome you.

See ya.....

PS: If you want to join us then great, if you are staging a show, not necessarily car show & would like some Capris, then give us a call........

Notice to both members & anyone who wants to come along:

Next branch meeting is Monday 7th July 2008 from 7.30pm. Just call Davin or Jeni to find out and let us know you are coming.

A flavour of the cars we can bring to a show is this picture of 12 of our cars on display at Shoreham Airport Classic Car and Air Show back in September 2006 (they'd only give us 12 tickets). We have had many good shows which have produced great photos, but this is still the best composed, so I'll keep this one here.

Launched 14th September 2006
